Movie theaters aim for live 3D sports in 2007

it's no secret that movie theatres are losing ground to the consumer that has a home theatre system and can download movies at home before thay arrive at the local cinema, so in a bid to dversify their offerings, the cinemas have decided to open up for other forms of entertainment...

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Movie theater operators hope to be screening live 3D sports events by 2007 in a bid to lure sports fans away from their home theater systems and bolster sagging mid-week ticket sales.

I don’t know if this would work. I just wouldn’t go to a cinema for sports. It may also depend how pissed we are allowed to get inside.

yeah they woudl have to allow for a certain amout of messiness and beer drinking if they showed sports.

it'd be good having the big screen, but i think they'd need to maybe get rid of the chairs in some sections to let people stand up.

what about screening the wiggles videos there and allowing the kids to play down the front and the mothers to socialise?

or opening it up to let people nominate their favorite movies to be shown there?

hire it out to schools to show documentaries on?

the possibilites are endless really. it's just about a paradign shift. it's just a matter of the opperators having enough vision to make it happen.

... hmmmm, (180 flip) or would it be better to keep the brand integrity intact by not diluting the offerings?
