back at uni

i'm in my second week back at uni and already i'm promising myself that i'll study harder than last semester and make sure i do all my readings, knowing full well that i'm kidding myself.

this is my second last semester and i am jumping out of my skin to get out of here and back into the workforce.

sitting in lectures you always see people tapping away on their laptops. they look so studious, so smart and organised. until you sit behind them and realise that they're actually working hard at switching between three myspace windows, IM and googling their own name while the lecturer is drawling on about 'public international law'...

this isn't good for someone like me. i'm easily distracted at the best of times, let alone when i'm sitting in a quantitative financial analysis lecture about binomial distribution tables. i tend to get really annoyed at people that might impede my already fragile attention span.

that's why i hate poeple that talk during lectures. seriously. i have the attention span of a.... hey, oooh look at.... what? oh yeah. i have the attention span of a retarded goldfish on speed. so i tend to sit there and get more and more angry when idiots laugh, talk and text around me.

i have this fantasy of standing up in the middle of a lecture as the lecturer stops talking and the rest of the students stare, turning to them, pointing and shouting "hey retards! shut up or fuck off!"

but instead, i grit my teeth and keep reading emails and myspace profiles over the shoulder of the guy in front of me.

Hello mark...I am an aussie/swede who has just started reading your blog. What is it your studying at uni? I was just interested as your subjects sound quite obscure! I am back studying this week myself - it's a tough time!
