you're only as smart as the people around you

It was the second class back at uni and already people were restless. The lecturer was drawling on about services marketing but I was too distracted by the girl on my left that was fighting to stay conscious through the lecture. Every time she would doze off (which was every couple of seconds) her head would roll back slowly, and then violently jerk forward as she woke back up.

It’s interesting to see how much the numbers drop off after the first lecture. I need all the help I can get so I try to go to every lecture to take in as much as possible, but it’s hard when you’re sitting next to noddy-McSleeps-a-lot jerking her head around and making grunting noises. Seriously! Just leave and go get some rest. You’re not learning anything here.

It was while I was fantasising about jabbing her with a pen that the lecturer addressed the class:

“Ok, now for some group work. I hope you’ve been paying attention because everyone will need to work with the person next to you”.

Oh yeah, this was going to be a great semester.
